Reader's Guide
Royal National Park is significant as Australia's first national park and one of the earliest in the world, predating Yosemite National Park's designation as a national park by 11 years. It protects a wide variety of terrain, including coastal cliffs, beaches, river valleys, and plateaus, as well as rare littoral rainforest and coastal heathland. The park is intensely used for environmental education by schools, TAFEs, universities, and other groups.

- The park's Coast Walk is a 30-kilometre track that walkers are recommended to allow two days to complete.
- Camping is only permitted at Bonnie Vale, North Era, and Uloola Falls, and requires pre-booking.
